For myself, I have found the subtle mind and the meditation
exercises to be the most beneficial for me. I get so relaxed in the subtle mind
that I really feel a disconnection from my physical body. I am not talking
about an out of body experience, but my limbs no longer feel connected to my
body. It is very relaxing and I feel energized afterwards. On the other hand there is meditation. I
meditate on positive things such as scriptures that encourage or comfort me,
and sometimes I get a personal revelation from thinking about what it says and
then just listening ….and relaxing. I “hear” answers to what I am meditating
on, at times. I get clarity and feel encouraged when I am done.
For example, I am doing a 30 mile bike ride in the morning.
I have never ridden that far all at once, but I have been meditating on what I
have accomplished and strategy for recovery when I get tired, and thinking
about the hills and the flat places. I am preparing myself, mentally, for what
I am doing, physically, in 12 hours. I do a lot of reminding myself of the
great physical feats I have done and remind myself that if I could do that, I
can do this…no problem J
Pam,
ReplyDeleteLOVE THIS!! I like how you explain your experience. I have not experienced this yet, but hope to in the future. I like even more how you connect your practices to real world challenges, and triumphs. I need to try this in efforts of the physical sort. In order to overcome and not feel lazy. I too can do this. Thanks for the encouragement!!
Pam,
ReplyDeleteI hope your 30 mile bike ride was a success! I also feel like my limbs lose all their weight and just fall away from my body. It's almost as if our body is like, "it's ok, chick. I got this. You go on ahead and do your business". I hope you are able to continue your practices and they become a part of you as well as easier. I plan on continuing these practices and hopefully enlighten a few people along the way. Best of luck to you in the future!
Hi Pam
ReplyDeleteGreat post and I hope you had great success on your bike ride. I will get there one day. Meditation is very empowering and can yield remarkable success if done correctly. I have a friend who meditates everyday, sometimes twice a day. I thought she was crazy until I tried it. It comes in handy at night before bed giving me a clear head after my kids are out for the night.
